Sakinah Long received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from City College and her Master’s Degree from Fordham University. Sakinah Long has over five years as a social worker in various settings. She has worked for residential and day programs, shelters, social services, homeless and formerly homeless, human services, and hospitals. Sakinah Long has worked with adults, children, seniors, and teens. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. Sakinah Long is proficient in ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, autism spectrum disorders, sexual assault survivors, behavioral health disorders, trauma-related stressors, grief and bereavement. Some of the treatment modalities she uses are interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, cognitive reframing, meditation, and play therapy.
Sakinah Long is passionate about addressing unresolved and unrecognized traumas to help individuals actualize their full potential and live more fulfilling lives. She enjoys providing her clients with the building blocks and tools to realize their goals and dreams. By creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space, she empowers clients to build self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and foster meaningful change.
