Claudia Clark is a Licensed Master’s Social Worker who acquired her master’s degree from Sacred Heart University. Claudia has over 15 years experience working in the non-profit social services field throughout New York City, while pursuing her educational requirements. She has extensive experience working with individuals who are Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill that are in need of community support services in order to maintain their mental health and live independently within the community. She has worked very closely with NYC’s Dept. of Homeless Services, Health and Hospitals, Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Office of Mental Health in order to provide the appropriate services and resources to these individuals. She has worked with the youth, single adults, families and the elderly. She has worked with these individuals one on one and in therapeutic group settings. Claudia has worked with individuals diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders, to name a few.
Claudia believes in a client centered approach to therapy and utilizes treatment modalities to assist patients with improving their quality of life and fulfill their life purpose. Some of the treatment modalities Ms. Clark utilizes: Mental Health First Aid, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Intervention and Critical Time Intervention. Claudia has specialized in working individuals that are dually diagnosed, MICA clients, children diagnosed with depression, anxiety and ADHD and adults and seniors with SMI.
Claudia understands and believes that addressing one’s social determinants of health, in their environment, is fundamental in improving their mental health and reducing longstanding inequities in health. Ms. Clark has a passion for assisting her patients with growing to their full potential while managing the symptoms of their diagnoses. Claudia commits herself to formulating healthy therapeutic relationships with patients in order to guide the client in understanding the link between thoughts, emotions, actions, and help in developing healthier thinking patterns.
