Dr. Dominique Phinn is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a Doctorate in Social Work from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work. She is currently pursuing her LCSW and is dedicated to advancing Black maternal mental health and perinatal wellness through clinical care, education, and advocacy.
Dominique brings over a decade of experience in clinical practice, higher education, and community-based work, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care, maternal mental health, and reproductive justice. She has worked in school settings, foster care systems, and outpatient clinics. She is especially passionate about supporting Black birthing people through postpartum transitions, perinatal mood disorders, and grief and loss. She is also a course instructor in MSW programs and facilitates support groups for postpartum Black mothers.
Dominique has worked with adolescents, young adults, and parents navigating a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, birth trauma, racial stress, and identity exploration. She integrates culturally responsive care, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused approaches in her work. She is currently working toward earning her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) to enhance further her ability to support individuals during the perinatal period.
