Shurayer Gilliam earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Plattsburgh State University in 2016 and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College in 2018. Ms. Gilliam continued to push forward and became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in 2021. Since then, Ms. Gilliam has worked in diverse settings, including schools, shelters, hospitals, and private practice, supporting individuals across all stages of life. Her experience spans working with children, teenagers, college students, adults, elderly individuals, couples, families, and those with trauma, depression, anxiety, familial issues, addictions, behavioral disorders, developmental disorders, and ASD. Ms. Gilliam draws from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths Perspective, Cognitive Reframing, Validation Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, among others.
More than a therapist, Ms. Gilliam sees herself as a partner, guide, and encourager, helping clients uncover the strength and potential already within them. She believes that while the path to healing can feel uncertain, no one has to walk it alone. Ms. Gilliam's goal is to create a space where vulnerability becomes a source of strength, and each person feels seen, heard, and valued for who they are. With authenticity, compassion, and a belief in the power of connection, she is honored to walk alongside her clients as they explore new possibilities and rediscover their inner light. As she often reminds her clients — you are more than worth it. The answers you seek, the strength you need, and the power to grow are already within you. Together, you’ll take each step forward, discovering the light and resilience that’s been inside you all along.
