Leah Mendleson LMSW

Digging into the things that burden our mental health isn’t easy and can leave any person feeling raw and vulnerable. I’m intent on creating a warm and nonjudgmental space for exploring the difficult stuff, working through the emotions and memories that come up, ensuring a safe container for facing challenging ideas. Confronting the things that burden our mental health isn’t easy, but the good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. As a therapist, I bring warmth and empathy to all sessions. Where grief, anger, celebration, encouragement, or humor (yes, it’s okay to laugh in therapy!) are appropriate, we’ll bring it in to the session- the full range of your human experience is welcomed in our therapeutic space. I work with individual adults and teens contending with self-esteem issues, life transitions, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship and attachment issues, boundary issues, identity exploration, loss and grief, and work-life balance issues. I provide trauma-informed talk therapy that draws from several modalities, including psychotherapy, mindfulness, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Systems Theory, DBT, and creative artistic expression. My approach is grounded in anti-oppression and cultural humility; we may have different backgrounds, but I will always regard your experiences and beliefs with respect and dignity. I believe each person possesses the ability to heal and grow- and that we all need help accessing the strength to do so at times. I’m here to assist you in exploring your experiences, emotions, needs, and potential paths forward, and to offer specialized supports along the way.
